Whether you’re in the mood for some locally sourced breakfast fare or something that will stick to your ribs, there’s a café experience that’s right for you. Find out what four cafes you should check out when dining in Wichita.

1. Beautiful Day Cafe

Located on East Central Avenue, Beautiful Day Cafe prides itself on offering farm-to-table food with a small-town feel. It uses the freshest local ingredients, many of which come from the nearby Green Street Permaculture Garden, and offers seasonal menus based on the available food. It serves breakfast only on Sundays, but the food prepared for breakfast includes free-range eggs, grass-fed beef, and no genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Lunch, which consists of salads and sandwiches, is available on weekdays and Saturday.

2. Bella Luna Cafe

Located in Bradley Fair and New Market Square, Bella Luna Cafe is a locally owned and operated establishment that serves handcrafted food with a Mediterranean flair behind the mastery of chef and owner Matteo Taha and his Lebanese roots. Both locations feature a full bar and serve a complete selection of wine, beer, and craft cocktails. Try the baba ganoush appetizer and dive into the chicken curry or lobster ravioli for your entree. The restaurant is open late every night on Sunday, in which it is only open for lunch.

3. Il Primo Espresso Caffe

As Wichita’s oldest coffee shop, Il Primo Espresso Caffe is billed as a coffee bar that sits on East Central Avenue. Enjoy a variety of breakfast foods, including croissants, bagels, muffins, breakfast sandwiches, and scones. Wash down your food with a delicious beverage such as a Thai latte, cafe latte, Americano, or cappuccino. To mix it up a bit, order a drink in one of its many flavors, including pomegranate, marshmallow, German chocolate, guava, and hickory smoke. One of its popular options is the Kickstart, which includes almond milk, espresso, and a scoop of Nutella.

4. Little Lion Cafe

Little Lion Ice Cream owners Ian and Jubilee Miller began their ice cream business when they purchased a commercial ice cream maker and cart, going around the Wichita area and serving their customers. In the summer of 2018, they expanded their business and opened a stand-alone cafe and ice cream shop, which resides in the Revolutsia. The full-service cafe serves coffee, waffles, yogurt parfaits, burritos, and craft ice cream. It uses local ingredients in all of its food, and its ice cream is gluten-free. Little Lion Cafe is open daily except for Tuesdays.

No matter if you’re a local looking for a new place to grab a bite or someone just stopping through Wichita, this city has you covered when it comes to cafes. Any of these four locations will satisfy your appetite and quench your thirst.
